🏡 How I Make the Most of My Free Days at Home as an Event Emcee

As a professional event emcee, my calendar is often packed with travel, hosting, training, and on-ground event coordination. But there are days when I don’t have any events and get to spend time at home. Instead of seeing it as downtime, I’ve learned to make the most of it by staying productive, creative, and connected to my goals.

Here’s how I usually spend my free days at home:

🎥 1. Content Creation & Social Media

I use my off-days to edit and upload videos for my YouTube channels — both my event emceeing channel and Travel with Thamizh.

I create reels from past events
Post travel experiences
Share short educational content on Instagram, Facebook & LinkedIn
It’s also the time I use to brainstorm new content ideas or repurpose older footage into fresh formats.

🎤 2. Emcee Training & Community Building

Training aspiring emcees is something I’m deeply passionate about. I often:

Record tips videos or demo hosting clips
Conduct mock training sessions on Zoom
Update my emcee training resources (scripts, checklists, engagement games)
These sessions also help me reflect and evolve as a trainer and mentor.

✍️ 3. Writing & Documentation

Free days are perfect to write and document all the event memories and lessons:

I write event recaps for my blog
Draft content for social media
Compile testimonials from clients and guests
Maintain a record of all events I’ve hosted — like a career diary!

📚 4. Learning & Upskilling

I truly believe we grow when we learn. I dedicate time to:

Watch videos on event trends, stage anchoring, storytelling, etc.
Take online courses on marketing, video editing, or voice modulation
Explore tools like Canva, CapCut, or even AI for creative support

📞 5. Networking & Outreach

Being in touch with my event network matters. So I:

Reconnect with past clients and event managers
Send follow-up messages to leads
Engage on platforms like LinkedIn and Instagram
Identify new venues, partners, or vendors I can collaborate with

Days at home also mean recharging:

I go for walks or do light workouts

Running an emceeing business involves planning:

I review and update my pricing packages

This is the fun part. I:

Emcee Thamizharasan Karunakaran popularly known as R K Thamizh is an experienced event anchor based in Chennai. I specialize in hosting a wide range of events, including birthday parties, weddings, corporate events, get-togethers, and social gatherings.

My journey in the media industry began with Puthuyugam TV Channel, where I worked as a freelance actor in 2013-14, followed by a stint at ITV in 2014 as a show producer and anchor. Since 2015, I have been pursuing my passion for events full-time. Over the past 13 years (as of September 30, 2024), I have successfully hosted more than 2,300 events—engaging live audiences across India and virtual audiences around the globe.

I have also ventured into acting, featuring in the award-winning Tamil movie “Aruvi”, the acclaimed short film “Rudran”, and several other short films. My appearances extend to various TV and YouTube channels, including a role in the popular “Bharathi Kannamma” serial on Star Vijay TV.

In addition to being an event emcee, I also serve as an emcee manager, leading a dynamic team of male and female anchors proficient in multiple languages, capable of hosting events across the country.
